Sorry to be a party pooper, but it looks like the Conservative government of Stephen Harper is bound and determined to undermine a pillar of our democracy — the Fourth Estate.<br /><br />The forecast includes:<br /><br /><ul><li>Further deregulation of the news industry, allowing corporate interests to trump the public's;<br /><br /></li><li>Yet more ownership concentration and the monopolization of our print and broadcast media;<br /><br /></li><li>Continued undermining of the CBC, our public broadcaster.</li></ul><br />Here's hoping Canadians will wake up to what awaits them and join together to demand that the media empires not be allowed to hijack our freedoms.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/8519598331364025250-5434756839348277498?l=yourmediawatch.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>WebDebhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04561131582998572411noreply@blogger.com0
